About Zanna Maybury

The Scooter! stories were born when author Zanna Maybury was left in charge of her young grandson, Jacob. In the school playground everyone else had a scooter, except Jacob. On the journey home Zanna Maybury asked him what sort of scooter he would like. "Easy!" he said. "It has to be golden, magic, and very. very naughty..." And so, it is.

Born in 1969, Zanna Maybury often dreamed of being a writer, but somehow real life kept intruding. She loved English Language and Literature at School (Holy Rood Junior School in Watford, and St Joan of Arc secondary in Rickmansworth), but was so busy with a career in Performing Arts, plus raising five fabulous children, that there never seemed to be the time. Until Jake and that episode in the playground. It sowed a seed, and the tree has grown and grown...
